Verse of the Day:
“For you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the foe.
I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
Selah ”

Lyrics of the Day:
“I don’t wanna’ spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I’ve let all these years go by
Wasted

Oh I don’t wanna’ keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain’t spending no more time
Wasted”

Quote of the Day:
“Off to one side sits a group of shepherds. They sit silently on the floor, perhaps perplexed, perhaps in awe, no doubt in amazement. Their night watch had been interrupted by an explosion of light from heaven and a symphony of angels. God goes to those who have time to hear him–and so on this cloudless night he went to simple shepherds.”
~ from “The Arrival” by Max Lucado

Lyrics of the Day:

Lyrics of the Day:
“I heard the belIs on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play.
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of Peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how as the day had come
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along the unbroken song
Of Peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair, I bowed my head:
‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said,
‘For hate is strong and mocks the song,
Of Peace on earth, good will to men.’

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep;
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With Peace on earth, good will to men
‘.”

Lyrics of the Day:
“Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!”

Quote of the Day:
“Phyllis:     Angela, you’re going to move this for the party right?  It’s not on theme.
Angela:      It’s the nativity scene.
Phyllis:       Alright. You can keep your camel, the sheep, elephant and the North African king can stay. Everything else goes into the drawer.
[cut to talking head]
Angela:      I am not going to judge Phyllis for desecrating Christmas.  There is one person who will though, and Phyllis just stuffed him into a drawer.

Lyrics of the Day:
“May the vision of You be the death of me”
~“Vision of You” by Shane & Shane

This has been one of my favorite lyrics in the past year, this is why…

What if only the VISION (=our very limited ability to see/conceive/understand) of God was enough to be the death of us.  Every day.  What would be accomplished in our lives, in our communities, in our world, if our OWN desires died solely on what we even barely understand God to be.  Here’s the thing, the truth is He is so, So, SO, much more than even what our vision of Him could ever be.

So my questions then becomes (and this thought makes my stomach get queasy, and my palms sweaty)….how can the “Vision of Him” not be “the death of me”

Lyrics of the Day:
“She knows the world is just her stage
And so she’ll never misbehave
She gives thanks for what they gave her
Man, they practically made her
Into a mmm

She’s the one that stumbles when she talks about
The seven foreign films that she’s checked out
Such a fortunate fool
She’s just too good to be true
She’s such a fortunate fool ”

Verse of the Day:
“ ‘O Israel,’ says the Lord,
‘if you wanted to return to me, you could.
You could throw away your detestable idols
and stray away no more.
Then when you swear by my name, saying,
“As surely as the Lord lives,”
you could do so
with truth, justice, and righteousness.
Then you would be a blessing to the nations of the world,
and all people would come and praise my name.’ ”

Lyrics of the Day:
“It’s so like you just to show up at my door
And act like nothin’s happened
You think I’ll sweep my heart up off the floor
And give it to you
Like so many times before
You’re talking to a stranger
I’m not that girl anymore

That girl is long gone
Boy you missed the boat it just sailed away
Long gone
She’s not drowning in her yesterdays
Betcha never thought I’d be that strong
Well this girl is long gone”
