Verse of the Day:
“Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.”
~Lam. 3:32

Quote of the Day:
“The vision of a champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is watching.”
~Anson Dorrance wrote this after driving past fields on a misty cold morning in the middle of the off season and seeing a player out there by herself. That player was Mia Hamm. Watch him tell the story (starts at 4:04)!

Lyrics of the Day:
“And time goes quicker
Between the two of us
Oh, my love, don’t forsake me
Take what the water gave me”

Over the next couple of days I will be featuring some highlights from my experience at The Global Leadership Summit in Chicago.  So amazing!

Verse of the Day:
“To acquire wisdom is to love oneself;
people who cherish understanding will prosper.”
~Prov 19:8

Quotes from session 2 – Len Schlesinger (President of Babson College at Harvard):
Action Trumps Everything
“We are all entrepreneurs.  Only too few of us get to practice it”
In the face of unknowability what will action look like?
- Starting on the firm ground of reality – be honest with where you are.
- Start with the things you care about.
- Use what you have at hand
- Have friends and resources available to you for support
- What kind of SMALL step can you take NOW?
- Act quickly with the means at hand.
- Looking for the expectable return is nonsense.  Instead think about what the acceptable loss is, and only stop then.
- Failure doesn’t mean game over, it means try again with this new experience.  So stop operation with the fear of failure.

Quotes from session 2 – Cory Booker (Mayor of Newark, New Jersey):
Stand Up
“You are the result of a grand conspiracy of Love”
“We have what we have today because those before us saw hope in desolate times and chose to stand.”
“Your attitude about the world says nothing about the world; it says something about your character.”
“If it is to be – It’s up to me”
“If we LIVE our values we can create radical transformation”
“But before you tell me what you teach, show me how you live and give.”
“Let us now stand up. Let us stand because people stood for us and fought for us and bled for us. Let us stand because … change never rolls in on the wheels of inevitability. Let us stand because ‘liberty and justice for all’ must be a passion and purpose every day. And if we stand like this, then we will find a way to get to the roof.”

Verse of the Day:
“O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand?
Turn and answer me, O Lord my God!
Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.
Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!”
Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.
But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
I will sing to the Lord
because he is good to me.”
~Ps. 13

~ Rick Ferguson

Lyrics of the Day:
“I don’t want to wait until tomorrow
To tell you how I’d feel the rest of my life
You don’t want a waste another minute to realize
Walking on the dark side of the evening
Baby it is you that opened my eyes
Burning like a fire on the water
The city of black and white.”

Lyrics of the Day:
“She got the call today
One out of the gray
And when the smoke cleared
It took her breath away
She said she didn’t believe
It could happen to me

We’re gonna get there soon”

Verse of the Day:

Quote of the Day:

~Abraham Lincoln

Lyrics of the Day:
“He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all ”

Verse of the Day:
“But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not! Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down. For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God.”
~Gal 2:17-19

Lyrics of the Day:
“She said she didn’t believe
It could happen to me
I guess we’re all one phone call from our knees

We’re gonna get there soon

If every building falls
And all the stars fade
We’ll still be singing this song
The one they can’t take away

I’m gonna get there soon
She’s gonna be there too
Cryin’ in her room
Prayin’ oh, Lord come through

We’re gonna get there soon”

Verse of the Day:
Look up into the heavens.
Who created all the stars?
He brings them out like an army, one after another,
calling each by its name.
Because of his great power and incomparable strength,
not a single one is missing.
O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”
~Is 40:26-31

Quote of the Day:
“Business is like a jungle. And I am like a tiger. And Dwight is like a monkey that stabs the tiger in the back with a stick. Does the tiger fire the monkey? Does the tiger transfer the monkey to another branch? Pun. There is no way of knowing what goes on inside the tiger’s head. We don’t have the technology.”
~Michael Scott “The Office – Season 3 – The Coup”

Lyrics of the Day:
“I meant it all and every part
and every word right from the start
i’ll never let this love fall in the middle

‘cause you know you broke the hardest part
you know you broke the hardest heart
i’ll never let this love fall in the middle
through it all

fifteen years old in a sea of blank faces
swimming bold against a stream that’s mocking as it races
in these halls, mountain high under a tangerine sky
crack a smile just to hide the race that’s inside
eighteen years old bags packed and a pass for the rail
one last look at the past as it drowns in the hail
one in a million, still i keep feeling you keep me from a fall
a world to lose coming back with you tall
through it all

no parachutes or safety nets here
one foot on the water to face these fears
coming out strong like i can’t be wrong
i said eh, i wont fall in the middle

twenty five here i am with freshman lps
one life to write one, two years to repeat
behind a curtain, uncertain if an encore’s in store
tuck my shoulder like a soldier to knock down the door
thirty something here i am running with kisses for one girl
these scars upon my sleeve still casting out my pearls
throw each stone microphone like it’s my last turn
with a kiss to the abyss and watch the ripples return
through it all

and i’m gonna be alright, i’m gonna be alright
with you by my side
and i said i’m gonna be alright, i’m gonna be alright
with you through this fight
through it all

i meant it all and every part
and every word right from the start
i’ll never let this love fall in the middle
through it all”
