“The storms of this life shatter our plans. They tear through our world and destroy our hopes and dreams. My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself;.”
~Ps 63:1-3
These past couple days I have been grateful for a grade every week depending on me memorizing the Word during my 6-12 grade years. Because when I need it, it’s often engraved on my heart. The highlighted portion was what I kept repeating to myself in between making some of the hardest phone calls I have ever had to make, on one of the hardest days I have faced in my life. Because in that moment life itself sucked, but I knew His unfailing love was better.
Quote of the Day:

Quotes from session 8 – Erwin McManus (Innovator and Cultural Achitect of Mosaic Church):
Chasing Daylight
“There are moments in our lives where we are inspired to act.”
“When Solomon says that ‘Nothing is new under the sun’ I know deep down that he is wrong.”
“The body of Christ (the church) has accepted Solomon’s words as a truth and the result is an apathy that is dangerous”
“Isaiah 43 tells us to pay attention to the new thing. He is all about the new: Creating the universe – that was new, talking to Moses as a bush on fire – that was new, a virgin giving birth – that was new, redeeming the world by death on a cross – that was new. His mercies are new every morning, You became a new creation.”
“If you live your life outside of God you are destined to the monotonous repetition but when we step into the light of the Son we are in the presence of the God of the extravagantly new.”
“When we live our lives connected to the Creator of the Universe, we become God’s instruments for creating the future”
“We have lost the distinction between being a part of the the created order (past tense, a product) and creative order (active tense, playing a part in the creating. Because we were made in the Creators image with the creators character within us) ”
“We have been entrusted with this stewardship: to redeem the image of God in every human being and living our lives in a way that reflects the image and character of God.”
In order to create the future God has in mind we need to:
- Cultivate Human Creative Talent – there has never been an ordinary being born but most of us die painfully and tragically ordinary. We should be the EPICENTER of creativity. What is spiritual leadership if we do not set the human spirit free?
- Be the Narrators of the Human Story - We used to tell our story with authenticity and transparency. There is no book that explains the human condition better than the Scriptures. We need to reclaim the truth-telling power of the narrative of Christ. Whoever tells a great story, shapes the culture. It’s not that hard to bring people to Jesus when you tell them a story they find themselves in.
“We are a mosaic… broken and fragmented pieces brought together by the masterful hand of an extraordinary Creator.”
