04/09…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“For whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye” ~Zech 2:8

Poem of the Day:
“It was rather
beautiful: The way he
put her insecurities to sleep.
The way he
dove into her eyes
and starved all the fears
and tasted all the dreams
she kept coiled beneath her bones.”
~Christopher Poindexter

03/25…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
~Heb 12:2

Poem of the Day:
“I am pieces of quotes
From my favorite books
Stitched together by
Song lyrics
And I am glued together by
Midnight conversations
And the sweet taste of coffee
And I have the tendency
To fall apart suddenly

And I need you to somehow
Be okay with this
Because I am created by
The souls who are brave enough
To gather all my tattered pieces
And put me back together

And oh God how I would love to be whole again”
~Amanda Katherine Ricketson

Lyrics of the Day:
“It ain’t like midnight and cigarette smoke
It ain’t like watered down whiskey and coke
I guess some things just don’t mix like you hoped
Like me and you
And diamond rings and old barstools”
~ “Diamond Rings & Old Barstools” by Tim McGraw

Verse of the Day:
“For I know the thoughts I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil” ~Jer 29:11

Quote of the Day:
“The sign of intelligence is that you are constantly wondering.  Idiots are always dead sure about every damn thing they are doing in their life.”
~Vasudev

Video of the Day:

I have said for a very long time that I actually really LOVE t-swifts songwriting, I just usually prefer someone else singing the songs (Mine, Everything has Changed, I Knew You Were Trouble, Begin Again, Safe & Sound, Back to December Sparks Fly The Best Day).  Select ones I have still enjoyed (White Horse, Love Story) but the statement still holds true.  This beautifully written song is stunning in this cover sung by Seth Rinehart.

“Just grab my hand and don’t ever drop it
My love, they are the hunters, we are the foxes
And we run
Baby I know places we won’t be found
and they’ll be chasing our trace tryin’ to track us down
Cause I, I know places we can hide,
I know places”

Verse of the Day:
“God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.”
~Ps 34:4

Quote of the Day:
“One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.”
~“The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupér

Excerpt of the Day:
“A whiskey-drinking woman knows that none of us fit in these neat little boxes. She’d never pigeonhole other women — or men, for that matter. She knows that each of us are infinitely full of gorgeous nooks and crannies waiting to be explored, and that the people who are willing to brave our fire in order to enjoy our warmth are the ones worth keeping in our lives.

She knows it’s not about what it’s in our glass, but the fact that we drink life in completely”

Verse of the Day:
“May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing–that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.”
~Rom 15:13

Quote of the Day:
“I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid’s runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are— particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain (I’m not a big one for paying compliments), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself. For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain.”
~Jonathan Carroll

Verse of the Day:
“For he himself is our peace.”
~Eph 2:14

Quote(s) of the Day:
“It had always been his fault to me until, in that moment it wasn’t any longer.  It was no one’s fault:  We loved one another once.  And then life brought us in different directions.  And we would both be okay.  He just wasn’t mine.  I just wasn’t his. And maybe a ghost gets born on the day you can accept the hardest fact:  someone else will love them, someone else will love them in a way you you know you can’t.*

“That’s all I want to believe on any given Friday or Monday or Thursday:  that if the stars that guide me home are enough to be adored, then I could be too.” *

“So cry your tears. And say your last words.  And when you are emptied out, let me go.  Please let me go.  Don’t live in your memories, making tents and tiny houses out of the way we used to be.  Something really wonderful awaits you.  I need you to step inside of it.  Say good bye because something new is about to start right here.        And me?  Well I’ll just carry the thought of you doing just fine.  I’ll carry the thought of you meeting new people, and holding new pairs of hands, and clutching people closer than you ever clutched me.  I’ll remember that when you came to me it was a blessing.  A temporary blessing that we’ll one day see if we can make permanent.  But for now it’s you and all the little lives you’ve got to go out there and touch.       You’re ready.  That why I’m letting you go.  And everyone else? Everyone else who get you for this next little “I’ll see you everyday” sort of while?  They win.  I don’t feel like much of a winner in this moment, but them?  They absolutely win.*

“I’ll Be your mistake.  Your poem.  Your messiest form of hope” *

“One day, I’m gonna be the map you unfold.  The one that leads you home.  That’ll be me.” *

“Grace is letting something else– something so much bigger than you– carry you home. It’s having and wanting nowhere else to be but in a moment that wants you and takes you just as you are..” *
~Hannah Brencher
