1/29…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“I cling to you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.”
~Ps 63:8

Quote of the Day:
“As we grow up, we realize it becomes less important to have a ton of friends, and more important to have real ones.”

Excerpt of the Day:
Who said anything about being safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
~Mr. Thomas in The Chronicles of Narnia written in “Jesus is not safe” by Perry Noble

I have thought of this article and the phrase “He isn’t safe, but he is good” every day for the past 2 months.  Our world wants the presence of God in our lives to mean that things will be nice, easy, pretty, painless (maybe throw in some pretty bows, unicorns & rainbows).  But that isn’t actually what GOOD means.  Good is sometimes really hard and messy and painful.  So to be able to say “He isn’t safe, but He is good” doen’t sit with people, but it’s true.  And for me it has even in a very unexpected way been soothing, because it allows me to hope that the things that are hard, messy, and painful have been made good by the King.

Verse of the Day:
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
~2 Cor 3:17

Video of the Day:

Fav Line: “Your words are inked on my skin”

Excerpt of the Day:
“In each session they teach you objectives. Why do we do this exercise? Many teams train just to get physically fit, but the key is to understand the game, to choose the moment you play the ball short in order to then play it long. To know how to decide on the field is the most important thing they teach at La Masia. But it’s also a school of life because it teaches you the values of respect, humility and camaraderie. It’s a way to live soccer and life.”

04/08…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ~Rom 5:8 Not when we have changed, or meet some demands, or have “earned” it.  But anyone can say they died for your sins, what sets him apart from every other offer on the table, is this...“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. ” ~Matt 28:6  So if this promise became true, that gives us confidence to believe the rest.  It also...“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” ~Heb 4:16
THIS IS LOVE.

Quote of the Day:
“The cross shows the sacrifice. The empty tomb shows the power. I show up with brokenness. Jesus responds with perfect love & redemption.”
~Trina Pockett

Lyrics of the Day:
“Awake my soul
For you were made to meet your maker”

Verse of the Day:
“As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend. ”
~Prov. 27:17

Quote of the Day:
“Friendship with oneself is all important because without it one cannot be friends with anybody else in the world.”
~Eleanor Roosevelt

Lyrics of the Day:
“If you ask me how I’m doing
I would say I’m doing just fine
I would lie and say that you’re not on my mind
But I go out and I sit down at a table set for two
And finally I’m forced to face the truth,
No matter what I say I’m – not over you”

Verse of the Day:
“But in that coming day
no weapon turned against you will succeed.
You will silence every voice
raised up to accuse you.
These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord;
their vindication will come from me.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”
~Isaiah 54:17

04/26…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Examine me, God, from head to foot, order your battery of tests.
Make sure I’m fit inside and out
So I never lose sight of your love,
But keep in step with you, never missing a beat.”
~Ps 26:2-3

Quote of the Day:
“Hope is
Folding paper cranes
Even when your hands get cramped
And your eyes tired,
Working past blisters and paper cuts,
Simply because something in you
Insists on
Opening its wings.”

“The solution its been tested in mind
I will never persevere
When swimming in serotonin even
The city’s summer smells like perfume”

12/18…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.  He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.”
~II Cor 3:4-6

Quote of the Day:
“I made hay while sun shone.
My work sold.
Now, if the harvest is over
And the world cold,
Give me the bonus of laughter
As I lose hold.”
~”The Last Laugh” by John Betjeman

Lyrics of the Day:
“There I was twenty one
Oh I was so ashamed of what I’d done
On a country road
Parked one night
What started out so innocent
Crossed the line
There was no denying
I let God down
But instead of being angry
He let his love surround me and I heard

In the sunlight or the rain, brightest nights or darkest days
I’ll always feel the same way
Whatever road you may be on
Know you’re never too far gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you will always be my baby yeah yeah.

There he is my little man
I’m sure he’ll get in trouble every now and then
And I pray to god that when he does
I’ll be just as understanding as my father was
’cause the last thing that I want to do is let him down
So instead of being angry
I’m gonna throw my arms around him and I’ll say

In the sunlight or the rain, brightest nights or darkest days
I’ll always feel the same way whatever road you may be on
No you’re never too far gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you will always be my baby be my baby”
