12/20…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“For God so (so= because of the manner or intensity of feelings) loved (love= to provide for and protect YOU) the world, that he sent his son.”
~John 3:16 – It’s because of God’s intense love for us that he provided a way to protect me, even knowing the depths of my heart.  He still chose to send his son to earth.  That is the unbelievable beauty of Christmas

Quote of the Day:
“This is a crazy story about an all-powerful God who created everything and could do anything he wanted to do and he CHOSE to tenderly step into His creation to ruthlessly deal with sin, out of love”
~Noel Heikkinen in “Behold* Jesus

Video of the Day:

“All is well, All is well
Angels and men rejoice
For tonight darkness fell
Into the dawn of love’s light
Sing A-le, Sing Alleluia”
~ “All is Well” by Carrie Underwood & Michael W. Smith

12/12…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
~ Jer 29:12

Quote of the Day:
“I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”
~Charles Dickens

Excerpt of the Day:
“We live in these moments. We live with these people — who teach me to listen, to forgive, to have patience, to understand. These are the moments that make a life, rounding out the jagged edges of lists and deadlines and everyday schedules.

But these moments come small and silent in the midst of our busy days. The won’t beg to be unwrapped, they simply present themselves and move softly on. May we have eyes to see them today.”

08/12…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes …”
~Genesis 18:27

Excerpt of the Day:
“Success doesn’t happen in a day, it happens in decades. We are in the exact spot we are supposed to be, it just looks nothing like the picture on the front of the brochure. All the time, effort, struggle and strain we’re experiencing is not the roadblock to success, it is the stairwell that takes us to the view we were praying for all along.”
~ “7 Cures for Your Quarter-Life Crisis” by Paul Angone

Lyrics of the Day:
“But I only need turn around to face the light
And decide flight or fight
Cause I have sent for a warrior
From on my knees, make me a Hercules”
~ “Hercules” by Sara Bareilles

07/22…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.  In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.”
~Matt 5:45-48

Excerpt of the Day:
“If you are in a social situation, surrounded by people or even just one person, put your phone away! Away. Learn to people watch, to read the room, to look someone in the eye and convey genuine interest.”
~ “Screen Rules” by Elizabeth Foss –  This is something I have inner dialog going on constantly about.  Especially with photography being a passion of mine.  I get wanting to capture the moment, but I think the pendulum has swung way too far on this in society (and all too often for me).  I challenge myself and you:  Be present in your life.  Don’t just document it.  Engage. Think about what experiences, interactions, and memories your are forfeiting by disengaging with the world and people around you (that you likely love a lot) to fiddle with whatever is in front of your eyes.

Lyrics of the Day:
“I’m on the hunt for who I’ve not yet become
But I’d settle for a little equilibrium
There is a war inside my heart gone silent
Both sides dissatisfied and somewhat violent
The issue I have now begun to see
I am the only lonely casualty
This is not the end though…
Cause I have sent for a warrior
From on my knees, make me a Hercules
I was meant to be a warrior please
Make me a Hercules”

Verse of the Day:
“Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.”
~Prov. 21:21

Quote(s) of the Day:
**A few of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books, I just re-read (listened to on audiobook)**
“Death may beget life, but oppression can beget nothing other than itself.”
“A multitude of people and yet solitude.”
“There is prodigious strength in sorrow and despair.”
“It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”

“You have been the last dream of my soul.”
~ “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens

Poem of the Day:
“I dwell in Possibility –
A fairer House than Prose –
More numerous of Windows –
Superior – for Doors –

Of Chambers as the Cedars –
Impregnable of eye –
And for an everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky –

Of Visitors – the fairest –
For Occupation – This –
The spreading wide my narrow Hands
To gather Paradise –”

Verse of the Day:
“This is what the Lord says:
‘Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.‘ ”
~Ps 139:5-6

Quote of the Day:
“You are a necessary part of my journey.”
~Liberty (as seen here)

Excerpt of the Day:
“All my brokenness is a whisper that I don’t belong, and every time I don’t feel like I belong, the Scarred and Rejected God whispers, “Come here, my beloved.”

11/19…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”
~Heb 6:19

Quote of the Day:
“In the words of friends these two desires ( adventure & intimacy)  come together in us all as a longing to be in a relationship of heroic proportions.”
~John Eldridge (Sacred Romance p. 18)

Lyrics of the Day:
“Deliver my heart with the
Pieces and parts of me left
Every last day seemed to carry the weight
A life time
Watch from the ground
As the gold fluttered down from the sky

Sweet sun
Send me the moon
Empty the skies out
Bringing me one step closer to you
Send it soon
And I will breathe in, breathe out
Until you come in and out
Of view”
