04/17…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. ”
~Heb 4:6

Quote of the Day:
“I swear to you, there are divine things more beautiful than words can tell”
~Walt Whitman

Excerpt of the Day:
“Every single night when you lay your head down on your pillow, you’re faced with yourself. Your dreams, wishes, and goals. Don’t let the fears, worries, and struggles of your everyday life defer you from becoming who you’ve always wanted to be. Now there’s a reason I keep saying who and not what. Because what is physical but who is not.What can be taken away from you. Whocan never be taken from you. Who you are is determinate solely on you.”

07/15…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“In your majesty, ride out to victory,
defending truth, humility, and justice.
Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!”
~Ps 45:4

Quote of the Day:
“You must habit yourself to the dazzle of the light and of every moment of your life.”
~Walt Whitman

Lyrics of the Day:
“Fire like lightening
Burnin’ up the night a smoke horizon
Won’t give up the fight
Well, deep inside can you hear that call?
Wakin’ your heart and shakin’ your walls
Where love is found, the nations fall
A cry will rise above it all”

03/07…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for Him to act.”
~Ps 37:7

Video of the Day:

Beautiful video!
Fav. Line : “The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,  I can’t help feeling, We could have had it all”

Poem of the Day:
“In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-wash’d palings,
Stands the lilac-bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green,
With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love,
With every leaf a miracle — and from this bush in the dooryard,
With delicate-color’d blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green,
A sprig with its flower I break. ”
~“When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed” by Walt Whitman
This reminds me of growing up eating cereal in our kitchen in the summer with the windows open and smelling the blooming lilacs right out side in the morning air.  Those days were easy and beautiful.

12/19…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Because of God’s tender mercy,
the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us,
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
and to guide us to the path of peace. ”
~Luke 1:78-79

Poem of the Day:
“THIS day, O Soul, I give you a wondrous mirror;
Long in the dark, in tarnish and cloud it lay—But the cloud has pass’d, and the
tarnish gone;
… Behold, O Soul! it is now a clean and bright mirror,
Faithfully showing you all the things of the world.”
~ “This Day, O Soul” by Walt Whitman

Lyrics of the Day:
“And Joseph said
Why me?
I’m just a simple man of trade
Why Him?
With all the rulers in the world
Why here?
Inside this stable filled with hay
Why her?
She’s just an ordinary girl
Now I’m not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the World”

07/30…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.”
~Ps 34:18

Poem of the Day:
“To me, every hour of the light and dark is a miracle,
Every cubic inch of space is a miracle,
Every square yard of the surface of the earth is spread with the
same,
Every foot of the interior swarms with the same;
Every spear of grass–the frames, limbs, organs, of men and women,
and all that concerns them,
All these to me are unspeakably perfect miracles.”
~“Miracles” by Walt Whitman

Lyrics of the Day:
“You find your faith that’s been lost and shaken
You take back what’s been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don’t give in
It’ll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable”

01/27…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down.  For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God.  My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die..”
Gal. 2:18-21

Poem of the Day:
“O Me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring;
Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish;
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever renew’d;
Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me;
Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined;
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer.

That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.”
~ “O Me! O Life!” by Walt Whitman

Lyric of the Day:
“How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing”
~ “How can I Keep From Singing”  Chris Tomlin
