08/25…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Remember what you said to me, your servant—
I hang on to these words for dear life!
These words hold me up in bad times;
yes, your promises rejuvenate me.”
~Ps 119:49-50

Excerpt of the Day:
“A saint’s life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see, and He stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says, ‘I cannot stand anymore.’ But God does not heed, He goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight, and then He lets fly.”
~ Oswald Chambers seen in “How to Beat Disillusionment

06/27…of the day

Verse of the Day:
I’m fairly certain my church at home in Colorado got to dance with Jesus a bit this weekend….

I am so lucky to have found a church that loves like this in every place I live.

Verse of the Day:
“ I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’

Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’ ”
~Matt 25

Verse of the Day:
“Take note of the fortified walls,
and tour all the citadels,
that you may describe them
to future generations.
For that is what God is like.
He is our God forever and ever,
and he will guide us until we die.”
~Ps. 48:13-14

Quote of the Day:
“The whole point of information in the Bible is transformation in our lives”
~Scott Nickell in “Searching for Someone Worth Listening To

Lyrics of the Day:
“Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don’t have to go it alone

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you when I don’t pick up the phone
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own”

Lyrics of the Day:

I wanna tear down the walls
That hold me inside.
I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name.”

I think Jesus would have been in the middle of this dance floor…and I am pretty sure this is what he had in mind when he said let there be church.   What it does to your life when you get to be a part of one like this. And I get to be a part of two.

Quote of the Day:
“Photography begins with the mind of concentration:  a particular state of awareness that is penetrating, unified and focused, yet also open and permeable.  This quality of consciousness, though not easily put into words, is instantly recognizable.”
~ Robert Reese “Bert Ihlenfeld” in Focus Magazine 10/09

Lyrics of the Day:
I run my life
Or is it running me

Run from my past
I run too fast
Or too slow it seems
When lies become the truth
That’s when I run to you”
~“I Run To You” by Lady Antebellum

10/10…of the day

Verse of the Day:
“Get all the advice and instruction you can,
so you will be wise the rest of your life.
You can make many plans,
but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.”
~Prov 19:20-21

Quote of the Day:
“Religion is the opposite of intimacy.”
~Jim Burgen of Flatirons Community Church

Lyrics of the Day:
“We bury our love in the wintery grave
A lump in the snow was all that remained.
But we stayed by its side as the days turned to weeks
And the ice kept getting thinner with every word that we’d speak.

And when spring arrived
We were taken by surprise when the floes under our feet bled into the sea
And nothing was left for you and me.

We’re not the same, dear,
And it seems to me
There’s nowhere we can go
With nothing underneath.
And it saddens me to say
But we both know, well, it’s true
That the ice was getting thinner
Under me and you.
The ice was getting thinner
Under me and you.”

Verse of the Day:
“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”
~Eph 5:1-2

Quote of the Day:
“Belief without action = dead & irrelevant faith
&
Action with out belief = pretending
BUT
Belief overflowing into actions = WORSHIP”
~Scott Nickel of Flatirons Community Church in 08/30’s message “Praise & Worship”
